Christmas in Vejer de la Frontera

The christmas is a celebration that is specially lived in Vejer de la Frontera, as well as in many other towns of South of Spain. But it is true that in the province of Cadiz the christmas tastes and, above all, sounds different.

The christmas celebrations that are mounted in towns like Jerez, Sand Fernando, La Linea de la Concepcion or Vejer de la Frontera are more than famous. These fiestas are known as zambombas that consist of meetings with friends, family and neighbours to celebrate the christmas with traditional songs, food and drinks. But Vejer also offers one of its best faces in christmas: the streets and the monuments are decorated, but the natural surrounding, one of the most principal motives to visit in Vejer, also shines its best aspect.

With these leisure offers it is common that the hotels in Vejer are almost hundred percent occupied in these dates. And the thing is that the leisure offers aren't just those mentioned above, there is a lot of more plans that you could discover in Vejer de la Frontera.

Navidades en Vejer de la Frontera

http://www.laboticadevejer.com/

Things to see in Vejer

Even the housing in Vejer already is an experience and also the service sector knows how to assimilate to the surroundings and how to multiplicate the enjoyment of the travelers on their visit.

The old town of Vejer de la Frontera was a walled city and for that reason Vejer de la Frontera is now located surroundings of this stone walled town. The stone wall has four doors and three towers that flank it: the Mayorazgo tower, the San Juan tower and the Corredera tower. More antique ones are the Arab remains of the city, spaces that were built because of the reconquist of the castles and churches: the church Parroquial del Divino Salvador was built on an antique Mosque and the castle of Vejer, that is a declarated National Monument since the 30´s, has clear islamic influences.

The coast of light: Vejer de La Frontera

One of the most beautiful places to see and explore in Spain is a coast called Costa de La Luz (The coast of light). The coast is situated between Cadiz (the regional capital) and Tarifa (the southernmost point of Europe). Beaches and cliffs are stretching up to the border with Portugal. Costa de la Luz begins in the east, near the town of Tarifa - the most famous surfing center in whole Spain. With a good weather you can enjoy the view of the African continent. While staying in Andalusia you can’t miss visiting Cadiz – the oldest city in Europe, with beautiful historical city centre and amazing beaches.

But to fully explore Andalusia you should escape from crowded cities like Tarifa or Cadiz and travel around small, charming towns on a countryside.

Long time ago Andalusians settled in fortified towns and villages, located on hilltops. Those typical white towns remained and the lives of residents has not changed for centuries. One of the towns is called Vejer de la Frontera. It has a rich historical tradition and remained its ancient character created by merchants, sailors and fishermen. If you happen to stay in a hotel in Vejer de la Frontera you will experience typical Andualusian climate with fiestas and traditional flavors in local bars and restaurants -  Spanish tortilla, paella, gazpacho and countless tapas. You can enjoy the sun, which shines here almost continuously from spring to autumn.

Once the Spaniards traveled around the world to discover it. Today, the story made a full circle and now many tourists from all over the world are discovering Spain: from the land and the sea, at the beach, or among the ancient buildings and museums. They travel by olive groves, orange and almond plantation. They wander around wine trails and historical routes. And all of this in Andalusia.
